MY FASCINATING STORY
PROFESSIONAL STATUS
My first teaching experience began in 1984 right here at Seaman High School. Then I was in the far southwest corner of the school, in a coveted closed classroom that used to be a typing room. The floor had rows of electrical outlets that stuck up and provided tripping hazards for all of us. Thirty years later, I am still a Seaman Viking. For most of my career, I have been in the middle of the building, in C2 (formerly C1). I have taught variations of journalism and advise the yearbook, the Clipper newspaper and the seamannews web page. I have been active in KSPA and JEA through the years. I have a MJE (Master Journalism Educator) status through that organization. I have a Bachelors degree in English Education from Baker University and a Masters in Library Science from Emporia. |
PERSONAL STATUS
Boyfriend and I just celebrated 30 years of marriage. We have two boys, Josh and Jake. The nest is empty, but when adding dogs and cats to the mix, we have a pretty full house. When I'm not teaching, I have hobbies I enjoy. I love to work in my flower garden. We have a fish pond and a roomy backyard. I fill every inch I can with beauties that bloom. I'll also try anything crafty. I've got a full Pinterest board, and I'm actually DOING some of the projects I have pinned. MIRACLES DO HAPPEN! One of my favorite hats I wear is that of Aunt Kelly. It's wonderful to work with delightful nieces and nephews and watch them grow into amazing humans. I am active in my church as a member of the praise band and the bell choir. I also help out with the children's Sunday school classes. Nothing inspires me quite as much as the glitter, glue and glee of a Kindergarten Sunday school class. |
